A group of my friends from Carolina (and Duke — yes that school too 🙂 ) recently decided to combine their talents and interest into one blog — The Confabulous Five. A collection of activists, educators, artists, mentors and phenomenal women with own unique personality and mission to change to the world.
So with this kind of introduction and premise for a blog, you can imagine, I was honored when this group of women asked me contribute to their blog as a guest writer. I’ve only done it a few times but each time, I’ve enjoyed writing for another platform.
First, was an opinion piece for Roland Martin’s website for the MLK Memorial dedication. And my second time, was for another fellow UNC alum and bestie, Perrine and it was a fashion piece for her blog, The Chic Pro2Type!
And this time, I tapped into my inner fashionista and wrote a piece for The Confabulous Five about thrifting for beginners. I really enjoyed writing this piece because it’s an advice piece that could really help people explore a new way to shop and think about their spending! Plus I’m a thrifting advocate so it’s never any trouble to ask me to talk about how much I love to do it and where and how others can start!
But one of the other things that I loved about The Confabulous Five’s blogging style was the fact that each contributor as an alias for themselves like The Auspicious Dreamer, The Passionate Advocate or The Fiery Lady. Each name of course relates to some part of each woman and considering my piece was about fashion, I decided to make my alias, “The Frugal Fashionista” which really is a good way to describe me and my lifestyle habits — I love being fabulous and well dressed but not for a lot of money.
Always frugal yet always pretty fashionable — not a bad combo in my book!
But time for me to stop typing and for YOU to start reading! Check out my latest guest piece, To Thrift or Not To Thrift! And please check out and continue to read posts by these fabulous women at http://confabulousfive.weebly.com/index.html.
Until next time,
