When I was in high school, I got the chance to model in an annual fashion show. And like any live production, there a million practices, there a few hurdles but at the end of the day, we were able to put together a good show.
But during the millions of rehearsals, our model director had a saying she would use when people were basically not doing what they needed to do and just making up BS excuses — “Talk is cheap and my ears are bleeding.”
Basically, actions speak louder than words. And it’s true. Some people can talk a good game but have no intentions of backing up those words with actions.
And this is not to say that we’re aren’t all guilty of this because we are.
There’s been at least one time in our lives when we SAID we were going to do something and we DIDN’T. But it’s the truth. And sometimes you’ll meet people who talk cheap and have no actions but you’ll have to deal with it and move on.
That’s what I’ve learned a lot since I’ve graduated.
But no matter how cheap the talk is, you gotta know what to listen to and what to let go in one ear and out the other. Because sometimes the cheap talk might be worth listening to so we know not to do it in the future ourselves.
Until next time,
