I’ve been in the DMV for more than a year and a half now and last week, I feel like I finally became an *official* member of the DC community.
I went to my first Washington Nationals baseball game!
Yup, I’m a DC girl now.
But this was my first MLB baseball game ever and it was a blast! The weather was just right, the home team won and I kept up with the game!
This is how I wear baseball gear with a little vintage twist!
Now look at that view! First this being my first time, I think I got some good seats.
And these seats by the way, were only $1 — yes one single dollar! I paid more for the processing fee than I did for the actual ticket! But it was a part of the Nats $1 Monday series where basically everything is a dollar — tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and peanuts!
My baseball meal — hot dogs and fries! Later I got some popcorn too — I had to it was my first game!
And it’s DC, so you’re always running into hot shots like this guy. I mean it’s Honest Abe, just chilling at the baseball game!
During the game, the Nats have a little tradition as I quickly learned. When there’s a break in between innings, there will be ‘presidential races’ where a few of our founding fathers and pass presidents run the bases!
I got a major kick out of it and it was funny to see these over-sized versions of Teddy Roosevelt, Abe Lincoln, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson running the diamond base for first place! I mean, check it out — hilarious, right?
But what I really enjoyed the most was getting to stand up with the crowd and sing an all time favorite…. “Take Me Out to the Ball Game!” I was too thrilled!
So needless to say, I really had a good time at my first game and I hope I can attend a few more!
Until next time,
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don’t care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don’t win, it’s a shame.
For it’s one, two, three strikes, you’re out,
At the old ball game.
*** On Monday, October 1st – The Nationals became the National League’s East Title after the Atlanta Braves’ 2-1 loss to the Pirates giving the Nats franchise its first-ever division title in Washington, D.C.!!
